Our history

Arun Counselling was started in 1983 by Joan Miller, a tutor at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation,

Joan was a Quaker and was much involved in the Friends’ Meeting House in Church St.  She also ran a counselling course in the upper room of her house in Arundel. The course ran for several years and it was accredited by the Westminster Pastoral Foundation and also by the University of London.

Arun Counselling began as Littlehampton & District Counselling Service.  It operated from various venues in and around Littlehampton, eventually finding some premises to call home.

ACC moved to Dove Lodge in 2002.  After another counselling course was established in this part of West Sussex, Joan stopped tutoring and devoted herself to running what was by then a well-established service.  The name was changed to Arun Counselling Centre, and eventually became a registered charity.
